Q. What is a Celebrant?
A. A Celebrant is a certified wedding officiant who has been trained to mark
milestones in life. It takes a year of vigorous training and research to specialize
as a Celebrant. It is comprised of research of different cultures, traditions,
rituals, and symbols. They are trained to listen to the couple’s love story and
then create an affective and personalized ceremony that reflects their truth, and
expresses their personality
Q. Are Celebrants legally allowed to perform weddings?
A. Yes they are legally allowed. Each Celebrant is ordained in a different way,
depending on the State you live in. In NJ State, you have to be an ordained
minister.
TIP: Don’t forget to ask your officiant if they are ordained minister in NJ.
Q. How does a Celebrant prepare a ceremony?
A. The couple has to fill a questionnaire. The answers provide vision to their ceremony. The Celebrant prepares the first Ceremony draft which is later edited after reviewing with the couple. Celebrant offers unlimited consultation and editing until the couple is satisfied, and happy with every word.
Q. Are there rehearsals involved?
It depends on the couple. Celebrants prefer rehearsals but sometimes, due to lack of time and fees, rehearsals are avoided.
Q. What are the fees for Celebrant wedding?
A. Fees differ from ceremony to ceremony. A personalized ceremony involves, research, writing, emails, phone appointments and rehearsals. I offer a free no-obligation first meeting to discuss your ceremony and then quote price.
Q. When is the fee due?
A. When the couple is ready to hire a celebrant, a 50% of non-refundable deposit
is paid to the Celebrant to book the date.
Q. Why is it a non-refundable deposit?
A. A deposit is a confirmation that the date is yours only. Celebrant starts working on the ceremony as soon as deposit is received. There is a lot of research, and writing involved in creating a ceremony. Secondly, the date is exclusively booked for that particular couple; in that case if the celebrant is offered other ceremonies, celebrant declines to accept the same date.
Q. What if for some reason the couple cancels the ceremony?
A. In that case, Celebrant keeps 50% deposit.
Q. Is a Celebrant wedding religious or traditional?
A. Celebrants believe in making the couple happy and satisfied on their special
day. It is upto the couple to add religious or non-religious flavor to the
ceremony. If the couple would like to share their traditions, a celebrant will be
more than happy to blend traditions in their ceremony.
